Medical Billing Services in Idaho
Idaho Medicaid is mid-transition, and that is the first thing a billing team has to get right. Most physical health services are still billed fee-for-service to the state, while behavioral health and dental already run through separate managed care plans, and a state law directs a move to comprehensive managed care in the coming years. Billing today’s claims on tomorrow’s rules, or the reverse, is how revenue leaks in a state like this.
MedPlus RCM provides medical billing, coding, credentialing, and denial management for Idaho practices of every specialty, built around the state’s actual payers and programs.
Idaho’s payer landscape
Idaho’s Medicaid program, Idaho Health Plan Coverage, still pays most physical health services fee-for-service, with the state contracting and paying providers directly. Two carve-outs already run through managed care: behavioral health is delivered through a separate managed care plan (Magellan), and dental runs through Idaho Smiles (MCNA). Members who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, or enrolled in Idaho Medicaid Plus, choose between Molina Healthcare of Idaho and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho. A 2025 state law, House Bill 345, directs the state toward a single comprehensive managed care model, but that transition has been delayed to January 1, 2030, so the current mixed structure still governs how claims are billed today.
Commercial coverage is led by Blue Cross of Idaho, the state’s largest insurer, alongside Regence BlueShield of Idaho, SelectHealth, PacificSource, and Mountain Health CO-OP. Medicare Advantage prior authorization affects a share of schedules in the Boise and Idaho Falls metros.
What MedPlus RCM handles for Idaho practices
- End-to-end medical billing. Charge entry, claim scrubbing, submission, payment posting, and patient billing. That is the full cycle.
- Medical coding. Certified coders assign current ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes matched to your documentation and specialty.
- Provider credentialing and enrollment. End-to-end enrollment with Idaho Medicaid, its managed care carve-outs, commercial payers, and Medicare, plus re-credentialing maintenance.
- Denial management and recovery. Every denial investigated to root cause, corrected, and appealed with documentation.
- A/R recovery. Aged and outstanding balances audited and pursued, including balances already written off where the appeal window is still open.
- Financial reporting. Clean claim rates, collections, denial patterns, and A/R aging visible by payer and provider.
We serve practices statewide, Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, Coeur d’Alene, and Pocatello, across specialties including primary care, mental and behavioral health, cardiology, orthopedics, dermatology, and physical therapy.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Idaho Medicaid billing in flux?
Idaho is between models. Physical health is still largely fee-for-service, behavioral health and dental already run through managed care carve-outs, and a comprehensive managed care transition required by a 2025 law has been delayed to January 1, 2030. Claims have to be routed on today’s structure, not on the future one.
Do you work with Idaho Medicaid?
Yes. We bill fee-for-service Idaho Medicaid, the behavioral health and dental carve-outs, and Molina Healthcare of Idaho and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho for dual eligible and Medicaid Plus members, as well as commercial and Medicare plans.
How long does it take to switch our billing to MedPlus RCM?
Onboarding takes between 2 and 4 weeks depending on practice size, including data migration and payer clearinghouse setup.
What does MedPlus RCM charge?
A performance-based percentage of successfully collected revenue. If you don’t get paid, we don’t get paid.
